Resize Video

Upload a video and resize it to 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, or any custom width and height. Standard presets maintain the original aspect ratio by automatically calculating the other dimension. Custom mode lets you set both width and height explicitly.

This is useful for downscaling large recordings for web or mobile, preparing videos for platforms with resolution requirements, or standardizing a batch of videos to the same size. The audio track is preserved without re-encoding.

Everything runs in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm — your video is never uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Will the aspect ratio be preserved?

When using the preset resolutions (1080p, 720p, etc.), the tool scales the height to the chosen value and automatically calculates the width to preserve the aspect ratio. In custom mode, you control both dimensions — if they don't match the original ratio, the video will be stretched.

Can I upscale a video to a higher resolution?

Yes, but upscaling doesn't add detail — it just makes each pixel larger. A 480p video resized to 1080p will look the same as the 480p version stretched to fill a 1080p screen. Downscaling is where resizing is most useful.

Does this upload my video to a server?

No. The resize runs entirely in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm. Your video stays on your device.
